A Canadian citizen since '86, Dave's family moved to Alberta from Thatcher's England, when many collieries, steel works, and potash mines were shut. Dave Martin currently lives, works, writes and plays in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Dave is a teacher and has had the privilege of teaching Kindergarten and Jr High Band. Dave is currently working on learning the art of recording and is collaborating with musicians from Fort McMurray and Edmonton. These aspects of music, for Dave, have been an on-going learning experience for the last 16 years. Dave is pro-active when it comes to his development and self-improvement as a musician and as a citizen of this planet. Dave values getting critiques on his original tunes, and sees it as an opportunity to learn the craft of songwriting. Dave is currently using the professional critiques of 9 of his songs to improve his songwriting. Dave enjoys: performing live; listening to people's stories; writing songs; helping youth and local charities meet their goals; promoting and hosting open stages; participating in 'Songwriters in the Round'; showing off his horrible English teeth and is a fan of "do-it-your-self' anything. Dave's favourite Sesame Street Character is 'the Count'. |
